Freeride Comp
Take Your Freeride Skills into Competition
Silver Run's Freeride Comp program is for strong, experienced skiers who are ready to challenge themselves on steep, ungroomed terrain and in the terrain park while preparing for freeski and freeride competition.
Athletes train with certified coaches who focus on developing the technical skills, confidence, terrain awareness, and competition experience needed to progress as freeride athletes.
Placement in Freeride Comp is based on skiing ability, athlete readiness, and coach approval.
Train for the Mountain & Competition
Training prepares athletes for both big mountain and terrain park competition, with time spent developing strong skiing across varied terrain, natural and park features, and competition-specific skills.
The program also includes opportunities to train away from the home mountain. Occasional training trips to other ski areas should be expected during the season.
Training Commitment
- On-hill season: December 6–April 4
- Regular training: Saturdays
- Additional training: Two Sundays per month
- Time: 9:00 AM–3:00 PM
- Lunch: 45-minute unsupervised lunch
- Holiday Camp: Week-long camp during holiday break
Competition & Travel
Competition is an important part of Freeride Comp and requires an additional commitment from athletes and families.
The team often travels and stays together when possible to help keep expenses manageable. Families should plan for additional competition costs including:
- Competition entry fees
- Travel and lodging
- Lift tickets
- Food
- Training-day lift tickets at other mountains
- A shared portion of the attending coach's travel expenses, including mileage, lodging, per diem, and lift tickets
Whenever possible, coaches may travel and lodge with participating families to help reduce costs.
Before You Register
Athletes need appropriate ski equipment, a helmet, and a season pass. A back protector is strongly encouraged and may be required for some competitions.
Season passes, competition expenses, travel, and additional lift tickets are not included in registration.
