Building Better Skiers. Building a Stronger Ski Community.

For generations, Silver Run Ski Team has brought people together around a shared love of skiing, competition, the mountains, and winter.

Today, Silver Run provides opportunities for youth and adults across Alpine, Freeride, Nordic, and Snowboard programs — from young athletes building their foundation to competitive racers and adults who want to keep learning, challenging themselves, and skiing with a community.

Because while we love developing great skiers, Silver Run has always been about more than skiing.

Our Mission

Develop a team environment that fosters lifelong excellence through snowsports.

We believe the lessons learned on snow extend far beyond the mountain.

Through training, competition, teamwork, and time spent together, Silver Run athletes have opportunities to build confidence, develop friendships, improve their physical and mental wellness, set meaningful goals, and learn what it takes to work toward them.

Our coaches help athletes become better skiers and riders, but our larger goal is to help create capable, confident people who develop a lifelong connection to sport and the mountain.

A Red Lodge Tradition Since 1939

Silver Run's roots stretch back more than 85 years.

Founded in 1939 by local 10th Mountain Division Army veterans, Silver Run is one of America's longest continuously operating ski clubs.

What began as a local ski tradition has grown into a multi-discipline organization serving athletes from Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota, and South Dakota.

Today, Silver Run is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Red Lodge, Montana, offering Alpine, Freeride, Nordic, and Snowboard opportunities while carrying forward the same fundamental idea: bring people together through a love of skiing and the mountains.

More Than a Team

Silver Run is kids learning to make better turns and teenagers challenging themselves in competition.

It's coaches sharing decades of knowledge with the next generation.

It's Masters athletes proving there's always something new to learn.

It's parents volunteering, teammates encouraging one another, families traveling to races together, and friendships that extend well beyond the ski season.

That's the community we're building.

A Place to Learn, Progress & Belong

Competition is an important part of Silver Run, but winning isn't the only measure of success.

We want athletes to:

  • Discover the skills and joy of skiing and riding
  • Build confidence and independence
  • Develop physical and mental wellness
  • Set goals and learn how to work toward them
  • Form friendships and meaningful connections
  • Challenge themselves through training and competition
  • Become lifelong skiers and members of the mountain community

Our programs create pathways for athletes to progress when they're ready while giving them opportunities to explore different disciplines and discover where their interests can take them.
