Ages 14–19 | 4–5 Days per Week | Competitive Nordic Racing*

The Silver Run Nordic Competitive Team is for experienced teenage skiers ready to make a greater commitment to training and racing.

Athletes develop their Skate and Classic technique, fitness, strength, racing skills, and independence through focused coaching and a supportive team environment.

Comp athletes put those skills to work at scored US Ski & Snowboard-sanctioned races, regional competitions, community races, and throughout a lifetime of Nordic skiing.

Placement requires previous Nordic team experience or coach approval.

Develop as a Competitive Nordic Athlete

Competitive athletes train with purpose while learning to take greater ownership of their development.

The program includes:

  • Focused Skate and Classic technique development
  • Race-specific training and strategy
  • Athlete goal setting
  • Dryland conditioning
  • Gym and morning strength training
  • Equipment maintenance and ski waxing
  • Race-day coaching and support
  • Complete race wax support
  • Summer training schedule

The goal is to develop strong, efficient, confident Nordic racers while maintaining the fun, friendships, and love of skiing that keep athletes in the sport.

Training Commitment

Comp athletes train five days per week when not racing and four days per week during race season.

Weekdays: After school, approximately 4:00 PM–dark or 5:30 PM
Saturdays: Training times vary
Race Weekends: Training schedules adjust around competition

Athletes also participate in dryland conditioning and strength training as part of their overall development.

Racing Is Part of the Program

Competitive Team athletes participate in scored US Ski & Snowboard-sanctioned races, including IMD, RMD, and HP events, along with community races.

Registration Includes:

  • US Ski & Snowboard competitor license
  • Race registration fees
  • Race-day coaching and support
  • Complete race wax support
  • Nordic Center training trail passes
  • Regular coached training
  • Dryland and strength training
  • Summer training schedule

Before You Register

The Competitive Team is designed for athletes ages 14–19 with previous Nordic team experience. Coach approval may also be used to determine placement.

Athletes and a parent or guardian are expected to attend the November team meeting.

Athletes need access to their own or rented Skate and Classic equipment, including:

  • 2+ pairs of Skate skis
  • 2+ pairs of Classic skis
  • Skate and Classic boots
  • Skate and Classic poles
