The Nordic Ski Team has a wide range of athletes, from the year around dedicated athletes to the young development skier that is there to ski with friends and has a ton of fun, and even kids who just want to learn a few on snow skills! There are programs for skiers age 5 to 19, and a Masters program! Learn to ski or improve your ability, travel, and race or ski for fun! Hope to see you out there!
Parent Volunteers: We rely heavily on parent volunteers! Upon fulfilling the 20 hour requirement per family you will not be charged the $300 volunteer fee. Hours must be filled by the End of the Season.
Nordic Team Meeting in Nov. Date and Location to be announced. Required attendance for everyone, parents and athletes. (Penguin League is exempt)

Seeking Nordic Ski Coach – Part Time
The Silver Run Ski Foundation (SRSF) is seeking applicants to fill the position of Assistant Junior Nordic Ski Coach. The Silver Run Ski Foundation Ski program is a Bronze level U.S. Ski & Snowboard team, with 3 team disciplines, Alpine, Freeride, and Nordic. This is a 5 month position located in Red Lodge, MT. at the base of the Beartooth Mountains. More info can be found here.

Programs Available:
Penguin League- Nordic Edition
Penguin League is an introductory 4-week Nordic Ski Program. Kids will learn basic ski skills in a progressive & Comprehensive lesson plan Through Games and Play, that will allow them to continue to build on their skills during each lesson and use their skills in a fun race or out with their family and friends. The program is intended to build skills for young skiers in a fun & entertaining way while still getting them ready for the next step in their education. The Penguin League is open to any kid aged 5-16 who wants to learn basic ski skills. These skills will lend well to alpine skiing as well!
Program Includes:
- 1 day of training a week for 4 weeks.
- Learn basic Ski Skills.
- Learn to Classic ski.
- Snacks Provided.
Details:
Sign up before Oct.31: $55 per 4-week session. Families with 3 kids get a 20% discount on the third child
Sign up Nov. 1- Nov.30: $80 per 4-week session. Families with 3 kids get a 20% discount on the third child
Sign up Dec. 1- Jan. 12: $105 per 4-week session. Families with 3 kids get a 20% discount on the third child
Session One- Jan. 11, Jan. 18, Jan. 25, Feb. 1, Feb. 8
- 10 AM to noon
- Ages 8-16 or coaches approval

- 1 PM to 3 PM

Please Note: There are 5 weekends, and 4 practices. This is to account for weather and other unforeseen conditions that may prevent the practice from happening during one of the first Four Weekends.
Requirements:
- 5-16 years old or Coach approval.
- Buy trail passes
- Athletes must have or Rent Classic Ski Equipment
- 1 pair classic skis
- Classic boots
- Classic Poles
While this 4-week course is meant to give skiers the chance to try out a new sport and learn new skills, any athlete who wishes to ski all winter (2-3 days a week as snow conditions permit), have more lessons, and learn more skills should join the Powder Seekers – Younger Development Team.
Combination Team –
The Combo Team program is a combined Nordic and Alpine or Freeride Ski Program. Kids will learn to build on their ski skills Through Games and Play. Athletes will use their skills in a fun race or out with their family and friends. The program is intended to build skills for young skiers in a fun & entertaining way while still getting them ready for the next step in their education. In this program athletes will train on weekdays with the Powder Seekers until their age and ability moves them to train with the Older Devo team. Then the weekend athletes would choose to ski with either the Freeride or Race teams. The Combo Team is open to any kid aged 7-19 who wants to build on their ski skills.
Program Includes:
- 2 days of training a week, for Nordic Skiing Monday & Wednesday / one day on the weekend for alpine (choose freeride or race)
- Learn basic Nordic Ski Waxing.
- Learn to Skate and Classic ski/ build alpine skills on the mountain
- Athlete Goal Setting.
Details:
- Sign up before Oct.31: $980 for 2 Nordic and 1 Alpine training days a week. Nordic Beginning Dec. 1 through Feb. Alpine training begins Dec. 3, continuing through April 8

Requirements for Nordic:
- 7 years old or Coach approval.
- Spent some time on skis.
- Buy trail passes
- Attend Nov. Nordic team meeting (Athletes and Parents/guardians)
- Athletes must have or Rent Skate and Classic Ski Equipment
- 1 pair skate skis, 1 pair classic skis
- Skate boots, Classic boots (One pair of skate boots will work)
- Skate Poles, Classic Poles (One pair of poles will work)
Requirements for Alpine:
- 7 years old for race; 9 years old for freeride
- Skill level needs to be intermediate
- Attend preseason team meeting
- Athletes must have ski equipment, helmet, and a season pass
- Competitions fees are additional
Powder Seekers – Younger Development Team –
The Powder Seekers program is a Nordic Ski Program. Kids will learn to build on their ski skills through Games and Play. Athletes will use their skills in a fun race, local races, and out with their family and friends. The program is intended to build skills for young skiers in a fun & entertaining way while still getting them ready for the next step in their education. The Powder Seekers is open to any kid aged 7-13 who wants to build on their ski skills.
Program Includes:
- 2 days a week Training. Monday & Wednesday Dec. 4 – Feb. 28
- Learn to Wax Skis and Care for Equipment.
- Learn to Skate and Classic ski.
- Athlete Goal Setting.
Details:

- Sign up after Nov.1: $716 for 2 Days a week Dec.- Feb.
Requirements:
- 7 -13 years old or Coach approval.

OG!! – Older Development Team –
The OG Development program is a Nordic Ski Program. Athletes will learn to build on their ski skills through Focused Drills, Technique, and games. Athletes will use their skills in fun races, and out with their family and friends. The program is intended to build skills for Teenage skiers in a fun & entertaining way while still getting them ready for the next step in their education. The Original Development program is open to any kid aged 14-19 who wants to build on their ski skills. It is also open to current Powder Seekers who need more Technique, Powder Seekers need Coach Approval to Join the OG team.
Program Includes:
- 3 days a week Training until race season. Monday, Tuesday, & Thursday Dec. 4 – Feb. 28
- 2 days a week training during race season. Monday, & Tuesday Dec. 4 – Feb. 28
- Learn to Wax Skis and Maintain Equipment.
- Learn to Skate and Classic ski.
- Athlete Goal Setting.
- Race Support.
- Race Morning Wax Support – (Kick Wax & Structure).
- Gym Practice as needed.

Comp – Competition Team –
The Comp program is a Nordic Ski Program where athletes will learn to build on their ski skills through Focused Drills, and technique. Athletes will use their skills in scored US Ski and Snowboard sanctioned races in IMD, RMD, and HP races, community races, and out with their family and friends. The program is intended to build skills for Teenage skiers in a fun & entertaining way while still getting them ready for the next step in their education. This includes dryland conditioning, coached training 5 days a week when not racing. Training times are after school (4:00) to dark or 5:30 on weekdays and varying times on Saturdays. Includes US Ski and Snowboard competitors license and race entry fees. The Competition program is open to any kid aged 14-19 who wants to build on their ski skill and race.

Nordic Masters Team –
The Nordic Masters program is a Nordic Ski Program. Athletes will learn to build on their ski skills through Focused Drills, Technique, and games. Athletes will use their skills in fun races, local Races, and out with their family and friends. The program is intended to build skills for Adult skiers in a fun & entertaining way while still getting them ready for the next step in their education. - 2 mornings a week training.
- 1 weekend training before race season.
- Learn to Wax Skis and Maintain Equipment.
- Learn and improve Skate and Classic skiing technique.

MINDBENDER RL 2025
The MINDBENDER RL cross-country ski race in Red Lodge! This is a timed, fun obstacle course for all ages and abilities. It is HIGHLY ENCOURAGED for ALL athletes.
